Our Team

We are a small Company and we each have an important role to play in delivering on our mandate to provide excellent customer service and sustainable forest management services to our Shareholders. We are all passionate forestry professionals and take pride in what we do. We occasionally offer opportunities for youth as interns and co-op & summer students.

Svetlana Zeran
Svetlana Zeran, RPF
General Manager

Svetlana found her passion for Forestry through a love of the outdoors and countless canoe trips. Since graduating from Lakehead University with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Forestry in 2015 she has worked for the non-profit sector, government (MNRF) and private industry, taking her across Northern Ontario. Svetlana put her roots down in Bancroft when she was hired by BMFC in 2017 as a Planning Forester to author the 2021-31 Forest Management Plan. She assumed the role of General Manager in 2019.

Tyler Hinze
Tyler Hinze
Senior Technician

Tyler is a fourth-generation logger who chose to continue in the study of sustainable forest management as a forestry technician. He started in the woods at a very young age cutting firewood, then falling trees and eventually logging within a commercial harvest operation. In 2006 he graduated at Sir Sandford Fleming as a Forestry Technician, then immediately became an Ontario Certified Tree Marker. Tyler joined the BMFC team in June of 2015.

Office/Data Manager

Kelsey grew up in the Bancroft area and is so thankful to have a career in her hometown. Kelsey has a love for the outdoors and strives to spend most of her spare time camping, hiking, and fishing in the local forest. She puts a creative spin on all her mapping products and uses her organizational skills to ensure smooth operations in a very busy work environment at BMFC. Kelsey believes that our local crown forest has a major impact on our local economy and is strongly committed to its sustainability. She loves being a part of the logging community and strives to provide the best support to our local forest industry. Kelsey started her career at BMFC in the summer of 2016 after completing an advanced diploma in Environmental Technology at Sir Sandford Fleming College.

Communications Forester

Julie was fortunate to grow up with a cottage in Muskoka that fostered her love for the outdoors. In 2015, she graduated from Lakehead University with a Forestry degree and became an Operations Forester in Northwestern Ontario, where she spent the next 6 years. Her passion for forestry education, public outreach and outdoor activities made the Communications Forester at BMFC a natural fit. She joined the team in March 2022 and is very pleased to be closer to her roots.

Mindy Casselman
Mindy Casselman
Silviculture Technician

Mindy grew up in Belleville and originally pursued a career in teaching in British Columbia. After running an outdoor education program with a forestry focus, she realized that she was in the wrong career. She packed her bags and returned to Ontario to complete the Forestry Technician program at Algonquin College. After graduation, she gained experience on the west coast doing harvest block layout and silviculture, followed by tree marking in Central Ontario. She jumped at the chance to work at BMFC when she was hired as a silviculture technician in April 2020 and is thrilled make a permanent home in the Bancroft area.

Operations Technician

Austin is the fourth generation in his family to work in the Forest Industry. Austin grew up in Whitney Ontario, where he spent time with his grandpa building logging roads which led to his love for forestry. In 2018 Austin graduated the Forestry Technician program at Algonquin College and then Tree Marked for the Algonquin Forestry Authority before starting as an Operations Technician at BMFC in May of 2020.
